Regular and mindful home maintenance helps ensure your home remains a place you truly enjoy living in! While it may not be the most exciting aspect of homeownership, it’s essential and incredibly valuable.

My hope is that the tips and tricks I share in this blog will motivate you to take that first step—because getting started is often the hardest part!

February To-Do List

If you need a little motivation/inspiration to tackle the list, here are my tips:

– Make a priority list and divide into two categories: A (has to get done) B (would be nice to get done).
​
– Find a few extra hands (kids, grandkids, neighbor kids, co-workers, etc). You could offer them a meal in return for their help!
​
– Make it fun! Listen to music; make it a contest with your kids/grandkids; take an ice cream break.
​
– Try actually crossing it off your list – sometimes that alone just feels good and may give you that extra push to keep going!
Save the image on your phone so you have it easily accessible.

Let's Testing Your Detectors:

Regularly testing your home detectors—such as smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors—is a simple yet crucial step in protecting your household. These devices serve as an early warning system, giving you and your loved ones valuable time to react in an emergency. Over time, batteries can weaken, and sensors can degrade, reducing their effectiveness. By testing them monthly and replacing batteries as needed, you ensure they remain reliable when it matters most. A few minutes of maintenance can make all the difference in keeping your home and family safe.

Add these to your monthly to-do list, to add a little fun into your life

While you know I love to focus on home maintenance, I also want to encourage you to set priorities and bring joy into your life in all areas. Here are a few fun ideas to spark joy, add a little interest and motivate you to LOVE where you live.
