[ about me ]
Hello, I'm Amber! A wife to a wonderful husband who tolerates my crazy ideas but is usually right alongside of me, mother of two wild little boys, and a lover of all things old and junky. I am the founding business owner of MeshedDesigns and I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I love being busy and having a full schedule refurbishing cabinetry and working with clients, creating product, or hosting events while we slowly renovate our 1920's Farmhouse on our quaint homestead here in Minnesota.
Through the years working as an Information Technology Support Specialist, I've discovered that I enjoy writing directions and how to procedures so the Blog portion of my site is a perfect outlet for me to direct family, friends, and all of you to my knowledge and I hope to encourage you to step outside of your box and try something new.
I am a very deep thinker but may appear to jump into many of my adventures on a whim. It has all paid off so far and I can't believe how far my entrepreneurship has come in just a few short years.
Some fun facts, I am a nerd at heart with a little bit of redneck added on top. I love to go picking and fill my barn full of treasures while hoarding all of my old windows and barn ladders. I have a weakness for 80's style Chevrolet trucks and my favorite pastime is driving demolition derby cars.
[ about the business ]
MeshedDesigns was formed in 2011 when I was on maternity leave with my youngest son. The internet sucked me in and I discovered Etsy, everything after that was a whirlwind. A friend and I partnered together as we both had crafting talents and we quickly joined a store as vendors in August. By January 2012 we were opening our own brick and mortar location in Buffalo, Minnesota.
In 2013 my hometown of Hutchinson put on a competition to boost new downtown businesses. We had to submit a business plan and advance through a round of presentations and judgment. In the end, we got second place but still won some prizes and ultimately decided to open a store in Hutchinson anyways.
A few more short years later my friend and I went in different directions and I decided to sell my Buffalo location to one of my vendors. I then became the sole owner and ran my shoppe in Hutchinson for years.
In 2017 I hosted my first event, the Minted Patina Market, where I bring together creators and makers from all over to sell their wares in a weekend full of shopping, music, drinks, and food!
My lease in Hutchinson ended in June of 2018 and I was posed with a decision to renew it or move onto something bigger and better. I chose the latter and remodeled our decommissioned dairy barn into what is now known as the Barn + Loft. I spend my other time assisting clients in their home design, refinishing cabinetry, adding accent treatments to walls, and painting.
