This week we’re going to talk all things spring cleaning. For many of us, spring cleaning also means organizing/purging!
I hope the tips and tricks that I share in this blog will inspire you to begin! I think starting is often the hardest. Take my tips and add them to your process and you are going to love your clean & organized home!
If you want to chat about what I cover please shoot me a message on IG or publish a post in our Facebook Private Group – Home Imagined. We would love to continue the conversation with you!
Before You Start
Make a list
Prioritize it & then break it into chunks – don’t try to do everything at once. For example: choose one room or closet per day or pick 2 per weekend.
Be prepared
Make sure you have boxes or nice bags to fill your “donate” items with. Getting them ready ahead of time is important so you don’t lose steam while you’ve got your closet emptied 😉
Have a little fun
Find a good music playlist, a podcast series, or a book on audible to listen to. If I’m not listening to good tunes, I do enjoy finding a book to listen to on Audible.
Organize! Keep the Things You Love
Begin by taking all of your decor down from the space you’re working in, including the walls. Put all the decor in a pile and evaluate – do I still like this? Am I ready for something new? Is there too much clutter?
Clean: Dust, Wash and Put Back
Next, wipe down your walls or dust the area where they sat. Make sure everything is still functioning well in the space – does a piece of furniture need to be moved?
Finally, decide what you're going to keep and get rid of. Spring cleaning can be a great time to refresh and reset your home.
Wondering what to do with the decor you don't need?
-Trade with a friend! Maybe there is something she has that you like
-Donate to your local thrift store
-Check with your local agencies that assist people (safe housing, shelters, etc.) and see if they could use some new decor
-Sell on Facebook Marketplace
Some of my Home Imagined Facebook group followers said they would rather organize vs. clean. I agree!
Cleaning is important but there is something more satisfying about organizing a closet, drawer, or specific room. When I organized my pantry, I loved these clear plastic organizers and used these labels too! 🙂
P.S. Sending you a virtual high-five & a “YOU GOT THIS!” to begin your Spring cleaning & organizing journey!
