DETAILS
This kitchen was dated and not very functional with a corner dishwasher. The homeowners did not like the green granite countertops, and there was a gigantic stone fireplace dividing the living and dining room. The goal was to create a more open floor plan removing the fireplace, peninsula, and adding a permanent functional island.
The staircase wall was a half wall and the client was frustrated with people taking their shoes off near it and dinging up the wall so we installed a iron railing instead. That way nothing can be damaged and it opened up the feel of the space significantly. The homeowners did much of the work ahead of time and had us come in to do the cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, railing & flooring. This approach is a great option if you're looking for some cost saving opportunities with your project.
The best part about this project was the fact that we were able to create a layout that works well for them! Re-locating the dishwasher and adding a pull out garbage made the most sense.
