Mudroom Makeover | Hutchinson, Minnesota

Our client’s mudroom did not function for them. There wasn’t enough hanging storage and drop zone areas for this family with 3 kids. The laundry tub was never utilized and they needed to have functional storage as a pantry because their kitchen cabinets didn’t allow for bulk food and small appliance storage.  The custom cabinetry is painted in the color SW Night Owl (7061).  The large drawer bar pulls + the knobs up above really pop on this color!

This project had lots of challenges, this was the largest cabinetry we’ve ever built.  Patience is hard in our line of work – we want to keep things moving but sometimes there are delays.  In this case, our order of soft close full extension pull-out drawers were delayed.  The other hard lesson, sometimes we make mistakes even if we think we learned from it the last time!  I ordered the wrong cabinet hinges for the pantry (you have to use zero protrusion hinges when working with pull out drawers so that the doors fold out of the way to pull out the drawer).  Sometimes it feels like all the dominoes are falling and things aren't going exactly how I planned and that means that sometimes timeline promises have to change.  That is the hardest part for me as a business owner – my clients are so important to me! And it's why I'm extremely grateful for their patience & understanding. 

*My favorite feature in this mudroom is the skinny cabinet on the left side! It has a panel in it and serves as a pull-out for her stick vacuum.  That will be so easy to grab in a pinch!*
